By 2035, Bahrain plans to double the number of trees from 1.8 million to nearly 3.6 million. A Bahraini official presented Bahrain's strategic afforestation plan during the eleventh World Urban Forum (WUF11) in Poland.
From June 26 to June 30, the session was sponsored by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT). Undersecretary of Joint Municipal Services Shawqiya Humaidan said the strategy aims to expand afforestation projects on streets and intersections, as well as municipal and government projects.
